Brilliant article. And on the money. I'm an expat in France from the UK. But I'm an immigrant same as everyone else who comes here. Yet, my expat friends here disgree. They claim we are not immigrants. Why? They can't answer the question. I can. Because you're white and (relatively) wealthy and can't stand to be bracketed in the same category as someone from Syria. But in essence, there's no difference.
