In August 2014, I gave up my job teaching English in Lyon to house-sit a farm in Vienne and write a novel. I wasn’t particularly looking for the literary good life. I just wanted a break from the city.

Mistake #2 — Writing about writing
No one cares about your writing life. No one cares if you wake up early every morning to write while the sun rises over a small wood in front of your house.
People don’t want to know how you write. They want to read what you write.
