I think the problem is, people expect a reward for whatever they do these days. And when they don't get that pat on the back they feel hard done by.

On Medium, that pat on the back is claps, comments, views, and cash.

There have been pieces on here, I've been really proud of, but no one else has even read them—or very few.

Does it matter?

No, of course not. If you're pleased with it—no dumb typos, bad grammar, good points, written from the heart! — then there is nothing to worry about.
