It reminds me of the origin of the Croissant. That most famous of French pastries. Which is in fact Austrian. Most likely created, or so the legend goes, as a celebration in defeating the Turks in the 17th century. Hence, the Crescent shape. Food is indeed a great device for exploring history. Thanks.
