The problem is, if you've got loads of cash, you could simply pay to make a story go viral.

If I was selling dog shit, but had loads of money, I could probably advertise my 'Sweet smelling dog shit' and sell more dog shit than the chump round the corner selling the same dog shit. Maybe Medium's method keeps it a level playing field. If you want to earn more, you've got to stop writing shit.
