The thought of buying some tat in from China and then flogging it to make a profit seems soulless. Surely, there has to be a reason for what you do. A passion, a source of the idea, a personal ambition. We all wanna make a few quid, but how you make that few quid it important to me.
- Me and a friend used to have a high-end (ish) 2nd hand bookshop in Bristol. We did house clearances and picked up good books. Vintage classics. First editions and the like. This was mid 2000s, people loved it, we made a tidy profit every week. We loved books and literature, and we knew who the authors were, and so could sell the book. Even at £20 a pop.
I left eventually, but my mate carried it on for a few years, before he became a teacher (idiot).
Point was, I couldn't have sold dog collars in the same way for the same income.
