When Will Medium Writers Learn Some Basic Photoshopping!

I’m a small fry on Medium. I’ve barely 400 followers, I earn peanuts, and look at my stats more times than I should.

BUT time and time again — even from the Big Writers — I see massive images like this.

How many scrolls does it take to get to the story?

A lot!

Look at any well-known newspaper/media site, and they don’t have huge images like this.

This is a random piece picked from today’s Guardian Newspaper:

Yep, it’s the Queen and her son nicely framed in a 622 × 374 image that fits perfectly on the page, giving the reader an easy view without having to scroll down a million times.

This 1.6:1 ratio, is one of the preferred formats on media sites for reasons I’ve stated above. Plus, it doesn't take long to load, which means folk don’t have to wait. And you know what happens when people…
